Rodeo Mexican Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Rodeo Mexican Restaurant feels like finding a vibrant little cantina tucked right in the heart of Dothan. The moment you walk through the door at 2240 Ross Clark Circle, there’s a friendly buzz that strikes a balance between lively and comfortably familiar—an inviting space where the pace slows just enough to savor each bite and moment. The subtle hum of music mingles with the warm chatter, crafting an atmosphere that feels both festive and down-to-earth.
This is a place where the essence of Mexican dining comes alive through genuine human moments and shared plates. Whether you’re drawn in by the tempting aroma of sizzling fajitas or the crispy, golden folds of a chimichanga, the food here feels approachable and rooted in tradition. You’ll find simple joys in reaching for a crisp tortilla chip dipped in fresh salsa or pausing to enjoy a rich and creamy cheese dip beside a cold, thoughtfully mixed Texas margarita.
The menu unfolds like a story of familiar favorites brought together with care—meals built for sharing, for conversation, for lingering a little longer. It’s not about fancy presentation but about the comfort of honest flavors and the warmth that comes from well-crafted dishes like shrimp quesadillas or hearty bowls of pozole. Those who linger might discover the subtle pleasures of a Michelada or the delicate finish of a flan, rounding out an experience that feels both satisfying and true to its roots.
Service adds a quietly joyful layer to the visit, with attentive, personable staff who seem to know how to make each guest feel seen without fuss. The space may be cozy, with intimate booths that invite easy conversation, and while the music at times lifts the energy, it never overwhelms the casual flow of the meal.
At Rodeo, it’s the rhythms of everyday life—shared over plates of carnitas, quesadillas, or freshly prepared chicken fajitas—that create a welcoming scene. It’s a neighborhood spot that feels worth discovering, perfect for those moments when you want a little authentic comfort and the simple pleasure of good company wrapped in bold, honest flavors.

Couldn’t decide between red or Verde (green) sauce for the steak fajita, so they gave us both! This was our first visit to Rodeo and we were happy with our meal. I did find the presentation for the enchilada supremas to be lacking, but it did hit the spot for lunch. The Chile Relleno was good because there was none left. Our waiter Osber was fantastic and a delight as he helped my family with certain Spanish language questions. He made sure a member of our party got both sauces for her steak fajitas since she was new to Verde. We had such a good time that we want to make sure we see Osber again next time when we try out new dishes at Rodeo.

We’ve visited Rodeo Mexican Restaurant several times recently and we’ve been very pleased. Their food and service are the best. And, the restaurant itself definitely has that Mexican cantina feel to it. That alone makes a big difference to us. I’ve had their tacos, enchiladas, tilapia and veggies, and a few other things. On our latest visit, I ordered the Carnitas Dinner. It was excellent! The very lean pork was cooked with onions and just the right seasonings to give it an out-of-this-world flavor. You can’t beat it! You’ll have to try Rodeo’s. We’re certain you’ll love it!

Was good not as fresh as we thought it should be. Booths on smaller side. Prices seemed good

ABSOLUTELY worth the walk from the truck stop. I went with an appetizer sampler because I couldn’t decide.

the food here is generally pretty good, and serving is fairly quick. I have never had any problems with the wait staff, and the seating is comfortable. Sometimes there it’s a bit noisy with the music volume but it doesn’t keep us away.

The booths are tall and comfortable. The restaurant well lit and quiet. The food was brought out quickly and was hot. The salsa was liked by my husband but not flavorful enough for me , a straight forward red tomato and pepper flavor. No onion, cilantro or additional complex pepper flavors. My chimichanga was of a medium size with good crunch and white meat amply stuffed, topped with lettuce tomato and cheese sauce. The tomato, which was sliced mine as well have been watermelon for the flavor and acid that it missed. I know it is off season but good varieties are still available and Dothan is far enough South I expected better as it is a main component of most Mexican dishes.Prices are EXCELLENT for the quality and portion you receive[ pre-covid prices]. I liked the artwork which was themed with the business name and very cowboy/Valero Vaquero . Would come back if in the area. It's right off the main hwy right next to an older Kaptain Ds on the Northbound side.
